At Burbank Faith Virtual our background is Nazarene. We believe in all of the Church of The Nazarene’s 16 Articles of Faith.

 

But knowing that not all of our followers and members of Burbank Faith are Nazarene we theme four core beliefs in everything that we do.

 

1.) The Authority of Scripture

If Scripture is not given primacy then what is? The wisdom of the world? We believe in the whole scripture, both the Old and New Testaments. We all scripture to the same standard and do not elevate “Red Letters” above anything else in the testaments.

 

2.) The resurrection of Jesus Christ in the flesh.

Easy to assert a bodily resurrection—as many do. However, as Paul says, if Christ has not risen in the flesh then we have no victory over death.

 

A spiritual resurrection, means nothing. A resurrection of the flesh validates the victory at the cross and the empty tomb.

 

3.) Substitutionary Atonement.

Jesus did not die because of our wrath, anger, or hatred. He didn’t die as an example of selflessness for us to follow. Jesus came and died so that we could be reconciled to God by intoning for our sins.

 

 

4.) All humankind is created in the image of God.  

Genesis 1:26-27 speaks of God creating man in his own image. Male and female he created them. Thus, we are the crowning jewel of creation. We have been given free will and free won’t. Without these we could not image God. But to be human, by our status, means we are the image of God.

 

It is not something we work into, not a status to achieve, it is who we are from conception. And it cannot be revoked. To be human is to image God
